We demonstrate the most recent data on the use of different types of stem cells for the treatment of these severe damages, obtained both in experimental studies using animal models and in clinical studies. We particularly discuss the use of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and neural stem/progenitor cells (NSC/NPC) for the treatment of stroke and SCI. We also discuss the prospects for a further development of cell therapy of these diseases.</p>
Обсуждаются дальнейшие перспективы развития клеточной терапии указанных заболеваний.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>ischemic stroke</kwd><kwd>spinal cord injury</kwd><kwd>stem cells</kwd><kwd>mesenchymal stem cells</kwd><kwd>neural stem/ progenitor cells</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ишемический инсульт</kwd><kwd>позвоночно-спинномозговая травма</kwd><kwd>стволовые клет- ки</kwd><kwd>мезенхимальные стволовые клетки</kwd><kwd>нейральные стволовые/прогениторные клетки</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Stein J., Harvey R., Winstein C., Zorowitz R., Wittenberg G.
